Melinda (Smith) Meyers currently is Para-Professional and Deaf Mentor coordinator at her former school, GBSD/Maine Education Center for the Deaf and HH. She is also involved in Early Childhood Education services as Part C ASL Family Trainer focused on IFSP and Parent Infant Toddler Playgroup. She has had social work major at Gallaudet University in 1982. She had her first two part time contracts with Maine DHHS and Child Development Services, then became Early Interventionist for 13 years with SKI-Hi Institute certificates at MECDHH. Due to state cuts, and limited job opportunities, Melinda was also children's case manager for former Community Counseling Center, now Maine Behavioral Health. That's was when Child Development Services was transferred to Department of Education. Melinda returned to MECDHH as contracted Deaf Mentor in Parent Infant Toddler Program. She had studies additional master graduate credits in Early Childhood and Children with Special Needs. At MECDHH ever since, 2009, Melinda applied as Educational Technician III in other words, she is now para--professional as ASL Family Trainer, Deaf Mentor and Deaf Guide by the Side, and ASL Instructor for ASL for Families Program. In her past Deaf Community involvements, she was the secretary for MAAD two terms, and was participant in many community events until 2006's. Melinda has Deaf husband, two grown ups, Jennifer and Darin with three granddaughters in Auburn-Lewiston areas.
